Today is a Bank Holiday in England. The morning began grey and with a particularly muted quality for a major weekend holiday: today is the first anniversary of the tragic death of Princess Diana. This afternoon the sun came out, the atmosphere lifted. My wife and I planted some small connections with the future in pots and the garden; life continues.
Now ProjeKct Two are Heavily ConstruKting in Detroit, actually in the theatre where Harry Houdini received the blow which lead to his death several days afterwards. It was while listening to this piece after returning from tour that I realised I was listening to The King.
As a change of diet in current ear food, on Friday I played the DAT of "The Repercussions of Angelic Behaviour" by Reiflin, Fripp & Gunn. This was recorded in Seattle in May 1997 after sessions for Bill's solo album. More than rehearsals, more than blowing, less than high art, and fun: three players playing together for the first time and seeing where they might go. And then going there.
Part of my morning was the beginning editing of "News From World Central", for availability to non-Web Disciplinarians. Web-based members of the team, and certainly my Sister, are surprised to learn how few of our audients are linked through cyberspace. We have received several requests to make the Diary available in analogue copy and are looking at the best ways to do this. Immediately, we intend to put a Diary digest in the Collectors' Club editions. If there is a sufficient interest, perhaps we can publish the Diaries in more formal issue.
Now, "Deception of the Thrush" is serving ambiguous information to audients of Detroit, including the man who shouted "In The Court Of The Crimson King!" as we began. Close, but no cigar. Actually, not very close and no cigar either.
And, with that, I wish you goodnight.
